Like so many others, I grew up absolutely obsessed with books. Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Hunger Games—I devoured them all. But somewhere along the way, as life got busier and responsibilities piled up, reading fell to the wayside. For years, I barely picked up a book, despite the lingering love I had for stories and fantasy worlds.

Then, one book changed everything: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. The Empyrean series pulled me right back into the magic of reading, reminding me why I loved getting lost in a book in the first place. From there, I found myself diving headfirst into A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. I’m currently (impatiently) waiting for the next book in the series, but that didn’t stop me from continuing my fantasy binge.

Next up was Throne of Glass, also by Sarah J. Maas. This series holds a special place in my heart because it’s the first series I’ve fully completed as an adult. There is so much to sink your teeth into with this one—complex world-building, dynamic characters, and a plot that keeps you hooked from start to finish. If you haven’t read it yet, I can’t recommend it enough. And of course, I had to check out Maas’s newest series, Crescent City, which is another fantastic addition to her collection of gripping fantasy worlds.

While fantasy was my first love, I also found myself diving into thrillers. Authors like Freida McFadden helped reignite my passion for reading with their gripping, twisty plots that kept me turning pages late into the night. Sometimes, a fast-paced thriller is just what you need to break a reading slump!

If you’ve already read these books and are wondering what to pick up next, stay tuned! Booktrovertz is about way more than just the popular BookTok fantasy reads. Whether you’re looking for high fantasy, dark academia, or hidden gems in the genre, I’ve got recommendations coming your way.

Hey there, book lovers and thriller enthusiasts! 📚✨

If you’re anything like me, you’re always on the hunt for that next gripping read—the kind that keeps you up all night, turning pages, heart racing. Well, have I got news for you! Freida McFadden’s sensational psychological thriller, The Housemaid, is not only a must-read but is also being adapted into a major motion picture set to premiere on December 25, 2025.

And guess who’s stepping into the shoes of our enigmatic protagonist, Millie? The incredibly talented Sydney Sweeney!

Why You Need to Read The Housemaid Before the Movie Drops

The Housemaid introduces us to Millie Calloway, a young woman with a shadowed past, desperate for a fresh start. She lands a job as a live-in housekeeper for the affluent Winchester family. But as Millie settles into her new role, she quickly realizes that the Winchester household is far from ordinary. Nina Winchester, the lady of the house, exhibits erratic behavior, and the mansion holds secrets that are both dark and chilling. As Millie navigates this treacherous terrain, she’s drawn into a web of deceit, mystery, and danger.

Reading the book before watching the film offers a deeper connection to the characters and a firsthand experience of the suspense that McFadden masterfully crafts. You’ll be in the know, catching subtle nuances in the film adaptation that only readers can truly appreciate.

Sydney Sweeney as Millie: A Match Made in Thriller Heaven

Sydney Sweeney has been making waves in Hollywood with her dynamic performances, and her casting as Millie is nothing short of perfection. Known for her roles in Euphoria and The White Lotus, Sweeney brings a depth and intensity that promises to do justice to Millie’s complex character. Her ability to portray vulnerability intertwined with resilience makes her an ideal fit for this role.

The Stellar Cast and Crew Behind the Adaptation

The excitement doesn’t stop with Sweeney. The film boasts a stellar lineup:

  • Amanda Seyfried as Nina Winchester, bringing her exceptional talent to portray the multifaceted matriarch.
  • Brandon Sklenar takes on the role of Andrew Winchester, Nina’s husband, adding depth to the complex family dynamics.
  • Michele Morrone, known for his captivating performances, steps in as Enzo, the mysterious groundskeeper with a hidden past.

Directed by the visionary Paul Feig, renowned for his work on Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor, this adaptation is in expert hands.

How to Create A Reading Habit in 2025

How to Create a Reading Habit in 2025 – 7 Tips for Book Lovers

Let’s be real—sticking to a reading habit can feel impossible when life gets crazy. You start strong in January, then suddenly it’s June, and you’ve barely cracked open a book. Sound familiar? Don’t worry, I’ve been there too! But this year, we’re making reading a non-negotiable part of our daily routine—without stress, guilt, or boring rules. Here are 7 fun, easy, and totally doable ways to build your reading habit in 2025!

1. Curate a TBR (To Be Read) List 📖
Having a solid list of books you’re excited about makes it easier to stay consistent. Create a TBR list and keep it somewhere visible—whether it’s a fancy bullet journal, a Notes app, or a Goodreads shelf.

2. Follow the 2-Page Rule ✌️
On days when you don’t feel like reading, tell yourself you’ll just read two pages. Chances are, once you start, you won’t want to stop. Trick your brain into consistency!

3. Pair Reading with Another Habit 🎶
Make reading part of a multi-tasking moment. Listen to soft instrumental music while reading, light a candle, or sip on your favorite drink. The sensory connection will make reading feel like a little luxury.

4. Set a Reading Alarm ⏰
Literally schedule your reading time. Set a daily reminder on your phone—whether it’s 10 minutes in the morning or 30 minutes before bed. Treat it like an important meeting with your book!

5. Experiment with Different Genres 🔥
Maybe you’re stuck because you’re reading the wrong type of books. If fiction isn’t exciting you, try non-fiction. If you always read thrillers, mix it up with romance or fantasy. Keep things fresh!

6. Track Your Progress & Celebrate Wins 🏆
Use a reading tracker, journal, or an app like StoryGraph to log your progress. Set mini-rewards for finishing books—like a new bookmark, a cozy reading night, or a guilt-free book haul.

7. Create a Digital or Physical Reading Space 🛋️
Make reading a vibe. Dedicate a cozy corner in your home with a comfy chair, good lighting, and your book stack. Or, if you’re more digital, customize your Kindle or iPad screen with aesthetic backgrounds and reading widgets.

And there you have it—7 fresh ways to build a solid reading habit in 2025! Now go grab a book and get started. You got this! 💕
